Fred Louis and Ella Thompson
Haida Song (1986)

This is a recording by members of the Nootka tribe of the Canadian Pacific Northwest. This track is traditional, but the melodicism relates more to a pop flow and structure. It is not a very old song, more a modern invention of the singers. It may be considered as a mood setter of time and place in the Northwest—a reminder of the sound of the region 10,000–20,000 years before all this stuff was built here.
